The Perfumer

Rodrigo

A Mexican master perfumer with three decades at the bench, Rodrigo composes every Marte fragrance — translating a continent he knows intimately into glass.

Biografía

Born in Mexico City, Rodrigo trained as a biologist before apprenticing as a perfumer in Grasse. He has spent his career at the world's most renowned fragrance houses, composing for storied maisons and indie cult brands alike. His signatures move between green vegetal opulence, smoky woods, and the radiant florals of the New World tropics.

For Marte, Rodrigo returned to the ground itself: rainforest petrichor, salt-crusted pink lakes, Andean cold, and Oaxacan firewood. He approaches each composition the way a naturalist approaches a field — by name, by genus, by season.

"Latin America is not one scent," he says. "It is a thousand microclimates pretending to be a continent. Marte tries to bottle four of them, honestly."
